Every metal detector we carry, from light first machines to pulse induction gold detectors. Choose by the ground you'll hunt, not the price tag: the right machine for a hunted-out park is often the wrong one for wet salt sand or gold country. Shop by use below, or start with our beginner's buying guide.

View full detailsMost detectors are VLF: light, affordable and good at telling targets apart. Pulse induction ignores mineralized ground and salt water but digs everything. Multi-frequency machines combine several frequencies to stay accurate across more kinds of ground. Our VLF vs pulse induction guide explains which you need.
Every order ships free anywhere in the US, and a real person answers the phone if you'd like help choosing.
New to the hobby? Beginner detectors keep things simple and automatic, and kids detectors are lighter still. Past your first season, intermediate detectors add manual ground balance and finer discrimination. For the hardest ground, see our professional detectors. If you want everything in one box, our metal detector kits pair a machine with a pinpointer and digging tool.
Start with where you'll hunt most. Parks and fields suit an all-round VLF. Wet salt sand calls for multi-frequency or pulse induction. Gold needs a high-frequency or PI gold machine. Call us and describe your ground if you're unsure.
Not on their own. Higher prices usually buy better target separation in trashy ground, more stable performance in difficult soil and better audio, not raw depth. On clean ground, skill matters more than price.
Most people find coins and other targets on their very first outing. Learning to read the tones and numbers well enough to skip most trash usually takes a few weeks of regular use. Burying a few test targets in your yard speeds it up, and our settings guide shows where to start.
