Metal Detector Bags & Finds Pouches

Somewhere to put the finds, and somewhere separate to put the trash. A good pouch stays put when you kneel to dig, keeps your tools within reach and stops small finds getting lost. Carrying your detector further? A padded bag protects it on the road. See all metal detecting gear.

Choosing a finds pouch

  • Drop-leg or belt: drop-leg pouches strap to your thigh and don't swing when you kneel; belt pouches are quick to put on.
  • Separate compartments: keep finds, trash and tools apart, and use a zipped pocket for small items.
  • Tool holders: a holster for your digger and a loop for your pinpointer save time on every recovery.

Always carry your trash out. It keeps sites cleaner and stops you digging the same pull tab twice. Pair your pouch with a pinpointer and a digging tool.

Questions we get asked

What is a finds pouch?

A pouch worn on your belt or thigh with compartments for finds and trash, often with holders for your digging tool and pinpointer.

Drop-leg or belt pouch?

Drop-leg pouches stay in place when you kneel and dig. Belt pouches are lighter and quicker to wear. Many detectorists prefer drop-leg for long sessions.

Do I need a bag for my metal detector?

Not to hunt, but a padded carry bag protects the control box and coil in the car and keeps the detector, tools and spare batteries together.
