Everything Here Is Built to Get Wet

The productive ground on a beach is the wet ground. Waves sort heavy items and drop them, and the margin where dry sand turns wet is where things collect. Equipment that has to stay dry only ever works half a site.

The detector is IP68 — a full submersion rating, not a splash rating. The probe is fully waterproof and reads from any angle, so you sweep it round the hole instead of kneeling and rotating it until it responds. Both can be rinsed clean under a tap, and salt left sitting in seams is what finishes off detecting gear far more often than water ingress does.

The Scoop Is the Piece People Underestimate

Digging a target out of wet sand by hand means kneeling, scooping with your fingers and watching the hole collapse back in. It is the single most common reason people try beach detecting once and do not go back.

With a scoop the sequence takes seconds: centre the signal, place the scoop behind it, take a controlled bite, shake. The curve does the sifting as you lift. Fifteen targets an hour instead of four.
